Lacy Purdum, LPCC
(she/her/hers)
Hello and welcome!
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in the state of Ohio. I have experience providing mental health services to teens and adults. My goal in therapy is to help you make sense of your experiences and to teach skills that promote agency, integrity, and wholeness.
I am passionate about creating an open, safe, non-judgmental space that is your own. I believe that therapy is a collaborative effort where you are the expert on your experiences and I am here to provide support and empowerment to make meaningful changes. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for these changes. I prioritize building trust and vulnerability – not just with me but within yourself as well. I will meet you where you are and believe what is true for you. I believe that we all have an innate capacity to heal – I'm here to create an environment for your healing to happen.
I take a holistic, trauma-informed, and strength-based approach that utilizes elements from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Experiencing (SE), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). I recognize that societal factors play significant roles in our ability to cope and heal, including the effects from: privilege, marginalization, racism, homophobia, stigma, sexism, and capitalism. I value uplifting client's voices and lived experiences. I believe that it is important to challenge societal norms and identify societal barriers as the problem, not the person.
I enjoy spending time in nature with my black lab, Theo (she, her, hers). I am an avid reader – preferably with a cup of tea and the millennial equivalent of smooth jazz, i.e. Lofi Beats – in the background. I enjoy board games and video games, exploring Columbus, and attempting to catch up on whatever show I am binging at the time.
